Fourth Sunday of Advent - 23 December 2018 (YEAR C)
Dear Parishioners and Visitors,
Greetings of peace at Christmas and every success in the New Year of 2019. Advent and the Christmas season are always my favourite time of the year. A couple of days ago, I went to the Chermside Shopping Centre to buy some Christmas Cards for my loved ones and it took me around 20 minutes to find a parking space. When I went into the shops, I was amazed at the number of people. It made me think, that the Christmas message not only has a huge impact on Christians but certainly has a great influence on all races and religions. The Christmas story is a story of love, and all of us in many different ways believe in the power of love. You and I buy Christmas gifts, we offer and exchange Christmas presents as a symbol of our love and care to those who are dear to us. Somehow, the Christmas story has taught and encouraged us to express our love to others in a way which we are not always aware of. I hope and pray that you have a great Christmas celebration with your loved ones. For many of us, Christmas is a time when we experience friendship, family and love, but for some Christmas is a time when they experience loneliness, isolation and depression, because they have no one to be with and to celebrate with. I invite you to keep these people in your prayers. I hope none of you have this feeling of loneliness during the Christmas season no matter what you do and wherever you travel.
